The Plight of the Pandemic and Finding Solutions

At the start of 2020, most people looked forward to a good year, maybe even a better year! Why not? Unemployment was at historical lows.  In October 2019, The White House reported that unemployment was at a 50 year low of just 3.5%.  Also, the stock market was soaring and the housing market was stable. Consumers were shopping, kids were in school, and people were traveling the world. Then, fast forward just six months later! The COVID-19 coronavirus enters the scene.

Now, our country is experiencing near 1930’s depression unemployment rates, schools are closed, businesses are shut down, and people are ordered to shelter in place to prevent the spread of the stealthy and deadly coronavirus. Face masks, hand sanitizer, and empty toilet paper shelves have become common. Government officials have worked hard to help support its citizenry by shoring up health care and passing economic support packages like the $2 trillion dollar Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) issuing checks to American homes. Yet, what further steps need to be taken and how deep of an impact this will have on us as individuals and our country is yet to be seen.

What can be said is that life is uncertain. Life is unpredictable and it is certainly not always fair and just. Our lives are fluid and always changing. Sometimes they are impacted universally like a world wide pandemic that we are experiencing now and other times they are more personal like debt, divorce, and health issues both physical and emotional. So, during challenging times it is important to be resourceful and to seek out those that can help educate you with your options. There are doctors, lawyers, real estate, mortgage, finance, and other professionals out there for a reason.
